Gaim 1.1.1 on Suse 9.2's Gnome 2.6

I have been having this weird thing with Gaim running on Gnome ever since I've used Suse 9.2 Pro. In KDE, I turn on the Gaim plugin to notify me when I get a new message by making my message window blink. This is similar to what Gaim is supposed to do on Windows. When I'm using Gnome, the message window doesn't blink at all. I was wondering if this problem I'm having is exclusive to just me or if other people on Suse 9.2 running Gnome also have this problem.

Is this a GAIM gui notification or native within KDE? Mine doesn't work in KDE, haven't tried GNOME.

I think it's Gaim's GUI. Gaim's GUI notify in KDE works but in Gnome it doesn't seem to work. Now that you mention it I guess the probably could be that the Gnome GUI notify thing isn't really working therefore causing Gaim's notify thing to not show up at all. I'd like to find out if other people have this problem because maybe together we can figure out what's going on.

Upon further researching I found that the reason why Gaim's urgent hint doesn't work in Gnome is because it is not yet supported. From my understanding a number of people have this problem and have posted on Bugzilla to help get this fixed. I have Gnome 2.6 and was curious as to whether or not those of you who are on Gnome 2.8 have this problem? I hope that the urgent hint will be supported soon. BTW, is a new version of Gnome released every six months? If not what's the frequency?
