I have FireFox 3.6 installed along with several 3.5.x versions on OpenSuSE 11.0. I have made the usual link in .../plugins/ :

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 58 2010-01-31 17:12 libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/java/jre1.6.0_18/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

just as I have done for prior versions of FF, but java is not working, aboutlugins does not show the java plugin as being loaded, but other plugins are loaded ok. What's the problem with FF 3.6 and jre1.6.0_18 ?

I will have to revert to FF3.5.7 - where the exact same configuration works perfectly - until this gets sorted. Thanks for any help.

why not just install the latest java rpm and everything gets configured automatically from:-

http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/non-oss/suse/

If you are using the 64 bit version, the java 64 bit rpm works fine

I've tried that (added the repo via yast2) and it made no difference at all. So I changed the sym-link in .../plugins/ to :
libnpjp2.so -> /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so

and now the java plugin is working fine in FF3.6.
