filename~

I am trying to figure out why YOU is not working (I am a n00b, by the way) which has let me to use KATE to edit the file /etc/wgetrc. I noticed there is now a file named wgetrc~ in the same directory. I opened it to see and it looks like the last version of the file. In other words the file /etc/wgetrc has my latest changes and the file /etc/wgetrc~ looks to be one set of changes back. Is this just used for KATE's undo feature or something? whats this file for?

... and any feed back on my YOU problem (thread titled SUSE YOU problem) would be appreciated.

thanks. ForeverN00B.

Yes, the tilde at the end of the filename is used by several programs to define the backup of the modified file.
