File copying problem

I've a problem when I tried to transfer data from a DVD to the folder in the hard dsik. It takes long time and the data is totally web pages. In wndows it will start to copy quickly but in Linux it takes long time to stall the files nad then only it start to copy which is very consuming task. All these tasks are dne in the KDK ennviroment. Is there any way to reduce the time it takes to copy the files?
