*** Please downgrade/upgrade C compiler to version gcc-2.95.x or gcc-3.x! ***
You are not using a supported compiler. We do not have the time to make sure
everything works with compilers other than the ones we use. Use either the
same compiler as we do, or use --disable-gcc-checking but DO *NOT* REPORT BUGS
unless you can reproduce them after recompiling with a 2.95.x or 3.x version!
tried configuring from with --disable-gcc-checking, but it failed...
any tips or tricks without downgrading/reinstalling gcc?
I'll download the binary/rpm version if there's no hope...
thx
Distribution: Mandriva mostly, vector 5.1, tried many.Suse gone from HD because bad Novell/Zinblows agreement

Rep:
maybe try MPlayer-1.0pre7try2 and the cvs version
shot in the dark: I think I have seen that you can have 2 version of gcc coexisting (do not ask me how)
you may then want alias gccv3 to gcc (or vice versa, or something like that)
had the same problem, but with an AMD64
tried the compiling. it's not the end of the road.
there's a lot of missing libraries that mplayer won't start without.
tired the RPM route, but there's even more dependency loops (the most annoying being ldap)
just might have to dual-boot with an older suse or mandriva just to be able to use mplayer
