extrange behaviour (apps closing and freeze)

Hi there, I have been using suse 10 from some time now, without really problems. But now, the first app that was showing extrange behaviour was FireFox, closing itself even more fast than a kill FFPID in the console, also amsn some times get closed, two times I get out of the session (like when you press ALT + F1), but not able to return to the graphic sesion, even freezing the console session, some times the computer restarted, some times the complete desktop get freeze also the mouse pointer freeze... apart I have watched that some times dosent pass the phase in the BIOS initialization for detecting the drives.

Time a go the batery of the BIOS was low and I wasnt able to enter or pass the phase of detecting the drives, I have put a new one, also I have problems with the temperature and I put a new fan for the CPU.

Now the batery have mot more than just a few months, the temperature of the CPU and graphic card is OK (I can touch them).

I dont really know what is happening, I think of a virus, by the way, I was using in xterm "top -u hgb" and one time I see cpp there (even that I dont been programming or a IDE open)... dont know why this app where runnig :S... specific apps closing some times, other times I can work for more than an hour in an app, others, I need to launch them 10 or more times from a icon or from wish (in wmaker window manager), that make me think of a VIRUS or some one controlling my computer remotely :S.... dont know.

But in other part, watching only 1 time that the BIOS wasnt able to continue, and freeze itself before detect the HD, make me think of a hardware error┐?┐?

What you think??, if is a virus I will like to know if there is an anti-virus, trojan or any that will help me out.

I think it's either a hardware problem or problem with your Linux installation. You can rule out the "remote control" thing by unplugging the network cable. That way nothing can come in and control your computer. You should also check you harddisks with fsck (see "man fsck"), making sure that there are no errors and bad blocks on the harddrive. If there are none, then try reinstalling all the apps (and their dependencies) that give you trouble.

Hope this helps.

#fsck -A -C
fsck 1.38 (30-Jun-2005)
reiserfsck 3.6.18 (2003

Will read-only check consistency of the filesystem on /dev/hda6
Will put log info to 'stdout'

Do you want to run this program?[N/Yes] (note need to type Yes if you do):Yes
reiserfsck --check started at Sun Apr 30 12:39:00 2006
Partition /dev/hda6 is mounted with write permissions, cannot check it
fsck.reiserfs /dev/hda6 failed (status 0x10). Run manually!
If I run "fsck.reiserfs /dev/hda6" then there is the same error, like you see the majority of my partitions are in reiser and mounted... if I unmount them, how is suposed to be loaded the programs┐?┐?┐?
