Evolution freezes on Suse 11.1 when importing .tar.gz file from Evolution 2.22.3.1

I've just installed Suse 11.1 with the Gnome desktop. I tried importing the evolution-backup.tar.gz file from Evolution 2.22.3.1 on a Fedora 9 machine. When running Evolution for the first time, it asks if you want to import a backup file which I did. The following message then appears:

MIGRATING

The summary format of the Evolution mailbox folders has been moved to sqlite since Evolution 2.24
Please be patient while evolution migrates your folders.....

It got through about 3% of the backup file and then froze. Now Evolution doesn't run at all. Each time I try to start it, the above message appears.

Is there a solution to this problem or do I have to re-install Suse?

Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou.

I doubt that reinstalling SuSE would help. I had a lot of instances when starting Evolution would automatically start the 'first run' configuration script. I would have to restore from the backup tar.gz file. I was running Evolution under KDE with Gnome support.

After a month or so I returned to using Kmail and started using its meta application Kontact. I'm very happy with the Kontact calendar and email. No problems with losing data and restoring from backup. And synchronizing with my Palm Z22 PDA using Kpilot is very easy. That was not the case with Evolution.

You're right stress_junkie, re-installing SuSE didn't help. I went back to Suse 11.0 and the problem was the same. Evolution is the problem. I think I'll try Kmail instead although I've never had a problem with Evolution on Fedora. Thanks for your help.
