Error installing and compiling

When i try to compile and install from the terminal i always get this end error:
"checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!"
How do i correct this???
Im a complete newbie so please be patient!!

Install the package xorg-x11-devel, this contains the X-includes for your system.

I downloaded the rpm but yast wont let me install!!
There appears to be some missing things!
How do i fix it?

Maybe the package you downloaded is not made for SUSE 9.2
The easiest way to install software that is not on your CD is via direct FTP installation. Have a look here for instructions:

Dependencies should be solved automatically. For additional sources (not supported by the default distribution) have a look in the sticky thread about YaST update sources. But xorg-x11-devel (or xfree86-devel, if you are using this X server) comes from standard sources.
