Error 15 --> rescue system w/DVD --> Login Incorrect
This is a bit wordy but maybe the details will help...
I installed Suse 10.3 ~ three weeks ago on a spare PIII box, got two IP printers going, the rest of my wired mshome peer network was communicating fine, & everything was ok for a few weeks. Tonight on (HD) boot I saw Grub Loader Error 15 with no further explanation. This is a single O/S box, Linux only. So I inserted the DVD live install disc, 10.3 loaded into ram, a bunch of boot files went by ending with the RESCUE LOGIN prompt. Just a quick aside: There is zero possibility that my login name/password are incorrect. I've used this same login name and password for years on my home network from '98 thru NT 3.51/4.0 to XP. That way I can never forget. Unfortunately, I get LOGIN INCORRECT with every Rescue Login attempt. My login name is accepted, I assume because, it's followed by the PASSWORD prompt. But Login Incorrect is the only result. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what the prob could be? Is it FDISK time now? Is my 10.3 installation trashed? Hopeful in Michigan TYVM in advance. |
Instead of typing in your login name, try typing rescue instead.
