EASY fix for XMMS MP3 problem..

I have found that if you install xmms-mad-0.8-2mdk.i586.rpm from rpmfind with Yast in SuSE-10GM,
the package will install fine and give complete mp3 support. I have been using it for 3 days with no issues so far...//Good Luck....//peter

There's nothing to set up. Once installed, it should just work. You can open up the preferences dialog in xmms and make sure that the mp3/mad plugin is loaded but other than that, it should just work.

Working now, it seems open-suse is completely deprived of codecs. You wouldnt happen to know where i can get some audio libraries for amaroke?

Yep, I would install and setup apt for suse if you haven't already. If you use it IN ADDITION to YAST, it is a great tool. Anyway, if you haven't installed apt, then Packman has most of what you need in the way of codecs. He built a package called w32codec-all that has all of the windows stuff and then has the faad, flac, divx, etc on his website. Just look under multimedia and under libraries. Here is a link to his menu: http://packman.links2linux.org/ He has built quite a few packages for SuSE-10 already, which is nice...

Have fun...//drum

Do we have to uninstall anything to install the win32-codecs and divx4linux rpm's? I'm very new to SuSe and pretty new to Linux in general.
