dvdbackup woes, Encrypted DVD unavailable help.

I've been playing with this problem for a few hours and I can't see to get it working.

I've downloaded the source for libdvdcss-1.2.8 and libdvdread-0.9.4 I did the usual, ./configure , make and make install for both of them. They both put the output libraries in the directory /usr/local/lib

I downloaded dvdbackup.c from http://dvd.chevelless230.com/dvdbackup.html and compiled it with this command
Code:
gcc -o dvdbackup -I /usr/local/lib -L /usr/local/lib -ldvdread dvdbackup.c
dvdbackup compiles fine, but when I try to copy the image of a movie dvd, I get this error.

Quote:
libdvdread: Encrypted DVD support unavailable.
Quote:
dvdbackup: symbol lookup error: dvdbackup: undefined symbol: UDFFindFile
I consider myself a Linux newb, but willing to learn. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

--Robert

Try installing from rpms builts... In SUSE your best option/at least reliable I think is to add a YAST source containing the codecs...
Something like packman's then just choose mplayer in yast and all the codecs should be set up for you.
I battle with the same thing for a while but found this to be less risky.
Hope it helps.

Thanks Alvarez,

I found out what was wrong. I did everything correct, the problem was the dvd I was trying to create an image from. I used the same dvd on my other PC which has slackware on it, and has never had a problem backing up dvd's. Well, I got the same error doing dvdbackup on that box too! The stupid dvd plays fine in my dvdplayer by my TV. Weird huh? Anyway, I am able to backup other dvd's just fine with my suse distro on my laptop. Just so happens that the very first dvd I try to backup won't work. The title of the movie is Monty Python, The Meaning Of Life. It happens to be the ONLY movie I have been unsuccessful with. Go figure huh?

Thanks anyway friend, lol. =)
