I am pretty sure that it is the DVD

Try re burning the iso file. i have had disks (knoppix in particular) that booted but stopped half way through loading.

If the scond burn doesnt work, try checking the MD5 checksum on the iso file.

If it fails, (or you cant be bothered) download the ISO again.

no i tried it again and the same problem persists. this time i noticed that the instaltion detects my combo drive as a cd drive. i think this is the crux of the matter. my samsung combo drive is TSST copr CDW/DVD SH-m522c. ithink i should load my drivers again but arent drivers loaded after the os is loaded?

help.

Yes, same problem here, after booting with the dvd and starting installation, after the kernel is loaded, the process stops and it's telling me that it cannot detect the dvd.It won't detect it even in text mode-safe mode.
Same thing happens with the DL DVD,even with the live DVD.
I don't know what's going on, can't find an answer...
Somebody please help!
