Downgrade Kernel OpenSuse 11.2

Hi!

This is my first post, I hope that I can explain my problem.

I've installed OpenSuse 11.2 in a computer, with 2.6.31.5 kernel. Now, I have to use a tool that needs 2.6.18.2 kernel. I've downloaded that kernel, but I don't know how to continue.

I'm following this page: http://www.digitalhermit.com/linux/K...ild-HOWTO.html, but, when I want to do make xconfig or menuconfig, I see many errors. If I want to do make oldconfig or config, I see a lot of questions that I don't really understand.

What I have to do? I'm looking in the web, but I don't know what to do.

Thanks, and excuse me for my english.

IMHO you are better off recompiling the tool rather than putting that old kernel on the system. 2.6.18.2 was in opensuse 10.2 which was retired in November 2008.

Well, I made a mistake naming it as a 'tool'. I have to use an Adlink Card. In their official webpage, they only have drivers until OpenSuse 11.1 (I'm using 11.2).

I wanted to downgrade the kernel because that computer had before installed OpenSuse 10.2, and the card worked normally then.
