Thumbs up Do you Fold?

Please see the Folding @ Home site at http://folding.stanford.edu/. For further reference look at the Wikipedia article searching from folding at home.

The SuSE Linux Users, team number 35676 could certainly use a few more good CPUs!

In a very short summary, you can join the world's most powerful super computer, which is always a a nice little ice breaker in a social setting. I personally like to have my PC always on & ready for instant computing, which could be called socially irresponsible. However, since I'm donating my spare CPU clock cycles to justifiable science, my conscience is completely clear.

I found it fairly easy to set up and use and the help sites are out there. I did find that my AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ did want a better cooling fan than the AMD supplied one, but that was partially because I wanted to be a bit conservative in CPU temps.

I hope to see you soon!

Cheers,
drf99

Not a folder, but used to do SETI until recently. Right now though, with energy costs where they are, I'm into shutting the machine down when not in use...

Brian,
Absolutely, each to his own. As I mentioned, I personally like the "instant on". I'm also hoping to educate a bit and get a few more Suse users on the Folding team.

Cheers,
