Question DNS problems with Suse 10.2 and Firefox 2

There's probably a really simple answer but I've been pulling my hair out trying to find it!

Konqueror web browser finds all sites I've tried but for some reason Firefox 2 and opera 9.x wont find some sites, but if I ping them in a terminal window then put the IP in it works fine. Sometimes putting the address into a Konqueror then reloading the same page in Firefox works. It's really ... annoying me. Even Google and opensuse.org didn't work! to start with but since I opened them in Konqueror and then again in firefox they now work for a while. But I can't keep doing that.

And some half work, linuxquestions.org loads but images.linuxquestions.org dosen't so I get no images and no ad's with isn't a bad thing.

Yet other websites load fine.

I connect to the internet using wired lan and a NATs enabled router, which is set as my defult gateway and dns server I've added the two ISP DNS servers as well, still no change.

Help please??

Well if anyone else has the same problem here is the solution...

Yast Control Center
/etc/sysconfig editor
Network
General
Disable_ECN - Set it to no
Quote:
File: /etc/sysconfig/sysctl
Possible Values: yes,no
Service to Restart: boot.ipconfig
Description:

If you have trouble connecting to some machines on the internet,
this may be due to broken firewalls dropping network packets with
the ECN (early congestion notification) flag set.
Set this to yes to have ECN disabled at boot time.

problem solved firefox working like it should fast! sooo much better than Knoqueror
thanks for everyone else's help

I tried this and I still could not get FF to work.
Searching the internet I found setting network.dns.disableIPv6 to true worked and I could load web pages.

Enter URL about:config
Scroll down to network.dns.disableIPv6 (or type the name in the filter box) double click on it and it will change to true. You should be able to surf the web.
