distorted console

There was sudden power off. After rebooting my pc grub was insisting on loading windows and i didn't get any screen to choose in which os i want to boot.I used sue dvd and reinstalled grub.Everything is ok but, when booting in linux, there is no gui(the screen that is normally shown when linux is loading).Istead of this i get a screen, the same that u get when u press esc when linux is loading, but everything in that screen is destorted. There are some huge characters,i mean huge, nad generlly the screen is distorted. In kde inviroment everything is ok,but when i prees ctrl+alt+f3(or enything else), i get a console with huge letters and very distorted.

YaST Boot Loader

Hey delta_9, Try this:

Start YaST and select System > Boot Loader, then edit the default kernel section and change the VGA Mode drop-down list to some reasonable resolution that both your monitor and display card support. Press OK to save, then Finish to let YaST complete the changes. Reboot and see the results. Repeat with a different resolution until you have success.

The manual console way is to figure out a compatible vga resolution by running "hwinfo --framebuffer", then edit vga=xxx in the kernel parameters in your /boot/grub/menu.lst, then finally run "mkinitrd" to recreate the boot files.
