Unhappy Disk Boot Failure

I was running SUSE10.0 perfectly well but installed SUSE10.1 anyway. Removed SUSE10.0 by deleting all the partitions and rebuilt the partitions during SUSE10.1 installation.

Upon reboot, the computer gives the error message
disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter

Configuration of harddisk :
hda1 - NTFS
hda2 - FAT32
hda3 - nfs (installed PCBSD after detecting error)
hda3 - swap

hdb1 - reieser (root)
hdb2 - ext3 (home)
hdb3 - ext3 (local)
hdb4 - swap

I had tried the following hoping to get the computer to boot up but unsuccessful

1. Did a SUSE10.1 re-installation. All goes well and can even log in and use apps IMMEDIATELY after installation. But upon reboot, the error message was shown.

2. Use the WinCD and did a issued a "fixmbr" command to fix mbr.
- same error message encounter after reboot.

3. Installed PCBSD and installed its default boot loader.
- same error message encounter after reboot.

HELP PLEASE !!! Any help is deeply appreciated.

Windows won't install allowing dual boot with Linux. That is why the normal process is install Windows first and then Linux. I don't think that fixmbr from the WinCD can work. I'd try starting an install from the SuSE CD and using that to repair the mbr. I have no experience with BSD.
