Question Digital camera cant connect

Hi,

I have Sony DSC H2 camera. Until some days ago, I was able to connect and copy my photos from camera to My Pictures folder. Digicam program was used to open and connect the camera. Now, when i connect, camera is not recognized as Sony xxxx, but as USB PTP camera. To this point everything is , I think , O.K. but to copy the photos from memory stick is not possible. Weird thing is that the system recognizes that there is USB camera connected but can not copy the files from it.
Any idea??

When you connect it, can you mount it without problems ? If not what is the error ? If you can mount it and you attempt to copy pictures, what error do you get at that point ?

Hi,

on my camera display there is a "USB Mode Connecting" message, on Digicam setup menu, when I click on automatic search for camera, there is this message: "found camera USB PTP class camera" and that is all. Opening "My Computer" There is no camera but if i connect Flash drive, it is recognized normally.

Ok so lets backup the train and answer my questions from my original post. Don't use any funky gui thingys, try mounting/unmounting and copying files manually.

I have been trying to resolve the problem but I do not know how. I had to upgrade the camera~s software ) because of the error and Sony recommended it. After that, it cant connect. When I plug in the camera cable to USB (any USB connector), nothing happens (If I connect any other USB device it is working). On Windows it is recognized and works normally. Is there a way to force my comp to recognize the camera, or better its Memory Stick??

I did it. I just open terminal window, do the following command : modprobe usb-storage
connected my camera ant it was immediately recognized, I got a message with which program I wish to open, and that is all. It works.
This is maybe to help somebody with the same problem, not only with camera, but also with other usb storage device.
