If you install the packages 'deb' and 'alien', you should be able to convert debian packages into rpm. I have never done that.

"Alien converts between the rpm, deb, Stampede slp, and Slackware tgz file formats. If you want to use a package from another distribution than the one you have installed on your system, you can use alien to convert it to your preferred package format and install it."

There is an rpm file for SuSE. Check your installaton disks. If you can't find it there, try the rpmfind site or the pbone site.

I found libXext in the following SUSE 9.1 rpm packages:

shlibs5-2001.7.30-209.i586.rpm
XFree86-libs-4.3.99.902-40.i586.rpm

A very usefull tool to search the distribution for files is 'pin': 'pin libXext' tells you in which packages this file is contained.

It's not recommended to install XFree86-libs package on Suse 9.2 and upper, because you have XOrg.

Off course, you can also an RPM package compiled for SuSe 9.2: http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-...pment/umbrello
It was the second hit in google.. :-/

The index page of that site also contains some URLs you can include to your Yast installation sources, and install the software directly from yast.
