Smile Daylight Savings Time Change Fix Fort Suse 9.2

Sorry, I know there have been a few similar posts.

I'm a newbie with Suse 9.2 and I would like specific instructions as how to change/apply the DST setting for this Linux version.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Lightbulb DST & getting the correct time with Suse

If you have the NTP service running then you will automatically get the DST corrections.
  1. Open YaST
  2. Look in Network Services
  3. Select NTP Configuration
  4. Check Automatically Start NTP Daemon is set to "During Boot"
  5. The select "Use Random Server" from pool.ntp.org
  6. Click Test to make sure it works.
  7. Click Finish
If the Test function doesn't find a local time server you can find a listing here Then unselect the setting in 5 above and add your chosen time server/s to the list in the box.

If you have problems with a firewall look here

Every time you boot the NTP Daemon will query a time server via pool.ntp.org, and your system clock will be set to the correct time according to your locale setting. The NTP servers are regulated by one or more atomic clock standards. The time servers have already had any local DST corrections included in their set-up.
