Custom Built SUSE ISO/Maybe New SUSE Based Distro
I'm looking to build a custom SUSE ISO with updated patches/packages. My initial try failed. I collected a number of patches and packages from the SUSE update repo as well as from Packman and Guru. I put them in their proper folders for the ISO. When I added the newly burned DVD as a source in YAST I noticed it wasn't detecting the newer packages. Then it dawned on me that some files in the DVD needed to be edited to recognize the newer packages.
Any way I'm looking for help or assistance in getting this done. The reason I'm doing this is because Novell/SUSE pretty much have their hands tied behind their backs when it comes to "patents" and other political BS. Meaning a lot of packages are broken out of the box.
My initial goal is to make a new ISO with none broken packages from guru/packman as well as any patches from the suse repo. If this little project of mine becomes "popular" or whatever, I might consider starting a new SUSE based distro. What I'd like to do is start a SUSE based distro that doesn't have to deal with the "politics" that limits SUSE and I can make what ever changes I need to. Right now the first name for the distro that came to mind is SuseX.
When I get a working ISO I'll share it via bittorrent. There wont be any central servers where any files will be stored.
