Could not start JACK. Sorry.

Soundcard: M-audio Audiophile 24/96

Trying to get it to run sound in Rosegarden and "eventually" run VST plugins in Rosegarden. I cant get JACK to work though. Any suggestions?

So you went to the manufacturer's driver page <http://www.midiman.com/index.php?do=support.drivers> and discovered that:
Quote:

Linux/UNIX

M-Audio uses a 3rd Party Vendor for Unix support. 4Front Technologies
develops and supports UNIX drivers for the Revolution and Delta Series of Products. The software is available for free evaluation and non-profit use but 4Front charges a fee for technical support and commercial use. They can be found at the following web address:

http://www.opensound.com
So you went to 4Front, got the driver - note that it is an OSS driver - you installed the driver... and then what?

(It is difficult to come up with suggestions when you give us so little to go on...)

When JACK has trouble starting, Ardour always works perfect as a jump starter for me. Just install Ardour and create a new project. After that you can tell JACK to start - which will react as if it was already running - and use it as you would otherwise. You can safely close Ardour now.
