Configure openSUSE to work fast

Hello!

I have installed openSUSE 10.3, installed some programs like Acrobat Reader, JDK, NetBeans... But when I work on it I feel it works a little slow. Maybe there is something I should do for it to work fast?
I use it on a laptop, so I want it to be light.

Thanks in advance!

What are the specs of your system? Adobe Reader is a bit of a resource hog and I find it slow regardless of which Linux distro I use. You could switch to using KPDF or EVINCE.

I am working on a Lenovo N100 Laptop, with 1GB RAM.

What I mean is that maybe there are some services that I can disable,

or anything that slows the system...

Thanks!

Run YAST -> System -> System Services and disable services that you do not need/use. I also tend to uninstall beagle and related packages.

What is beagle?

Its an indexing/search program.
