Compiling socks5

I am running SuSE v9.3 Pro.

Using package: socks5-v1.0r11.tar.gz

After "./configure"
then "make"

I get the following error:

In file included from ftp.c:51:
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.5/include/varargs.h:4:2: #error "GCC no longer implements <varargs.h>."
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.5/include/varargs.h:5:2: #error "Revise your code to use <stdarg.h>."
What can I do if I really want to implement this socks5 server on my system? It seems that the GCC compiler is not compatitable with the code used in this socks5 server.
