Changing the mount-by method in openSuSE 10.3

Hi there --

I am attempting to upgrade a 10.3 distro to 11.1 via the netinstall method. The reason for this is due to the LiveCD installation CD not having any upgrade option available.

An issue came up during the upgrade in the form of the following error message appearing on-screen during the process:

/dev/sda3 is mounted by a kernel device name. Restart the old system and change the mount-by method.

How easy is it to change the mount-by method? More importantly is it worth the effort to do so, or should I consider doing a scratch installation of the 11.1 distribution via the LiveCD media?

Thanks.

My opinion do a fresh install without formatting /home so you can keep you're personal data.
It also might be better just to be sure to backup /home

Hi there --

What if I went from the 10.2 to the 10.3 release. Once that was done I could then upgrade from 10.3 to 11.0, and then finally to the 11.1 release.

That would be time-consuming, but in theory that would circumvent the dependency issue.

What do you think?

Generally it is possible , but still it cost you at least a lot of time and also possible a lot of problems
If I like to go Rome and I do not go to Melbourne first , unless I go for a world tour.
