Change terminal mapping SLES 11 SP2 to SP3

Hi all,

I have a couple of new installations of SLES 11 SP3 I'm just configuring. I also have a couple of existing SLES 11 SP2 installations. Despite being set up identically, as far as I can tell, and in the same manner as any of my recent installations ... I've found that my standard terminal emulator key mapping does not work correctly on the SP3 installations.

Apart from the Service Pack increment between the systems, the only other difference is that the SP2 systems are on IBM 'x' series servers, and the SP3 systems are on HP servers. As a result, the HP installations were 'a bit different' as HP provides some sort of low level pre-configuration. I think this had something to do with managing the RAID array. That is, you don't just insert the SLES DVD and away-you-go.

So, I'm wondering if the HP installation has installed some relevant terminal related files which are different to the SLES default. If so ... how can I find them? I've been playing with this now for a couple of days checking all related files that I'm aware of, but without any luck.

As you might expect, the primary keys not working correctly in vim are up-arrow, down-arrow, page-up, page-down. I know vim tries to avoid using these keys, but they have always worked fine on all other releases up until now.

Any suggestions on likely causes of this unexpected change in behaviour will be appreciated.

Regards,
Greg Shearer

I've resolved the issue by removing the problem key definitions from my PC terminal emulator configuration.
No idea why these haven't caused problems before , but all seems ok with them removed ... even on the SP2 systems.
So it still looks to me as if 'something' has changed in SP3 installation, but perhaps my emulator has been doubtful the whole time :\
