Hi after using suse 10.2 for a period of 3 months i cant use anymore yast2 to install more packages.I launch yast2 and i select the software managent option under the software tab. A new window opens and i receive the message initialing all day. I have left it about more than 7 hours and never proceed ... so it seems that i have some software management problems and i really need some help ...
I might suggest you go to Software/Installation Source and delete every entry, if you can get in. Save this, Reboot and then enter each source again. In the Terminal window, you could try to issue the command "rug refresh" and see what kind of error messages you get there, if any. I had this problem with 10.1 and the above did cure my system. Often rebooting your computer or having it lock up while in the middle of adding in new Installation Sources can corrupt the source setup.
i used to use yast up to version 9.1 of suse. since then, i only use smart. just try it.... catch the rpm's at guru's site and install via rpm -i.... smart is easy to use and very fast
Ok thanks i know smart... but only one more question to the suse's users. Why is so tough for suse to make yast installation programms usable again? Yast stuff worked fine from 8.1 to 9.3 after those versions i have all the time problem with suse's yast. Now on i am a really disapointed suse user. I dont want to install smart or anything like that. I JUST WANT TO USE THE DISTRO I HAVE BOUGHT. SUSE PLZ DO SOMETHING FOR THAT.. i want to install suse and be ready for use and i dont really want to install 3rd-party programmes... is that so strange?
