Canon drivers? (ip8500)

Has anyone found out what bj ppd will work for the Canon PIXMA ip8500?

I've tried the ip4000 driver with the Canon as my shared windows printer but the printout is up in the top left quarter of the page.

The linuxprinting.org recommended printers page says...

There are few good free software drivers for Canon and Lexmark inkjets. Do not buy one and expect success.

However, you may be in luck. The Turboprint driver appears to support your printer. It's not free though, in either sense of the word.

Smile TurboPrint

Just wish to comment that TurboPrint used with SUSE 10.1 enables better than Windows printing options with my daughter's XP Pro shared Canon PIXMA iP3000. I paid Euro 29.95 on Visa.

Download a trial copy and give it a go.

TurboPrint works beautifully with my Canon Pixma MP500, had to pay for the driver in order to print at best quality but well worth it IMHO. You can download the free driver to see how well yours is supported but you will only be able to print at reduced resolution. If it works well though you may decide to shell out the $$.
