Wait until the DVD is downloaded. From my experience with Linux, updating one distro to another has always broken something... it's always better to start fresh. Or stick with SuSE 9.1 only, it's still pretty good and I've not found one good reason to upgrade it from 9.1 to 9.2. Check out the packages versions here:
Maybe you can answer this then, I'm running fedora Core 3 and I'm pretty happy with the way things run except the damn java stuff and also the way the file structure displays.
I like Suse 9.1 but the one thing that I didn't like was the way the webpages displays, The darn font is so damned small I could hardly read it.
I think that's a issue with netscape though.
Also, If I do reload the 9.1 version today can you use yum or apt-get and install the firefox browser with that?
There's a port for apt-get in SuSE, but I don't like it. You are better off using SuSE's Yast. If well configured, it works just as apt-get, downloading packages and checking dependencies.
I wrote this a while ago to help a friend to configure YaST to work like that. You might want to check it out:
I also think (90% sure) that Firefox is shipped with SuSE 9.1 Pro (haven't used SuSE for a while).
Firefox is also a pretty simple to install browser. You don't need to compile anything, it has an installer. SuSE 9.1 also has both Java SDK and Java RE, so that is a plus for your needs... But I should stop here because 1: I love SuSE and 2: I don't like Redhat family much, so I can't be totally impartial, and that is bad when reviewing them lol.

Ahhhh, I found something even better. I'm starting a network install and I'll dipped in Hmmm, anyway i can install SuSe 9.2 so I'm gonna do that and get rid of Fedora.
SuSE 9.1 Pro includes an old version of Firefox (0.9.3). If you download the current 1.0 from Mozilla.org, it will install alongside the SuSE copy! Instead, you need to find the repackaged copy that knows where to install on SuSE 9.x. There was another thread that told where to find it (it's on a SuSE FTP site somewhere). Once you download it, you can just double-click on it and let YaST install it.
