Can not find yast online update for nvidia driver suse 10.0

I recently updated from Novel Suse 9.3 to Novel Suse 10.0. I like the os and the changes, however, I can not find the link in Yast to download and install the nVidia driver. When I first installed version 10.0, I did an update and I could scroll down and check off the packages I wanted. This dialog is similar to version 9.3. Now I can not find the list of installed packages. There is a summary tree, but under hardware, I do not see nVidia. During the first update, I checked off nVidia, but, I do not think the driver was installed. I do not see the nvidia splash screen at boot that I saw in 9.3 and in Yast under video card, the hardware accelleration check box is grayed out. When I run Tux racer, a warning pops up that there is no video accelleration. Video card is a Riva tnt 2 16meg and a Gateway monitor vx720. Is there a way to see if the driver was installed?

try typing "3Ddiag" into term, it should say something like this:

Verifying driver installation:
nvidia ... done.

Tests for X.Org configuration:
Config File /etc/X11/xorg.conf ... done.
Driver ... done.
Extensions ... done.
Options ... done.

After typeing the command in termainal, here are the results:
No 3d capable graphic chipset found!
checking gl/glu/glut runtime configuration:
gl/glu...done (package xorg-x11-mesa)
glut...done (package freeglut)

I am guessing that if the nvidia driver is not present, that is why it reports no 3d capable graphic chipset found? What is the name of the text based configuration file for this distribution? I tried typing xf86config as a file search and found nothing.

Once downloaded, you won't see any update or patch unless you select the drop down below the patch list window. The bar will by default say "Installable Patches". You can select "Installable & Installed." Look for "Download NVIDIA ....." in the optional grouping and there it will be.

the latest nvidia drivers no longer support the tnt2 you have to use the last stable driver with support from nvidias site.

Yes, that sounds familiar. I did a manual update with Fedora core 1 and noticed unpredictable freeze ups while web browsing. Had to reboot. I had a similar problem with suse 9.3. It always happened after the driver update. Just out of curiosity, can a driver be made with DRI (direct rendering infrastructure)? Or is nvidia propriatary?

A link to the Nvidia website driver page is:-

http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html

but to be honest your graphic crad is so old - it hardly seems worthwhile bothering. A half decent replacement would only cost £15.00.
