Can Installing Linux damage DVD writer?

Hello everyone...

I was trying to install Linux Suse last night, installation went wrong (another thread) Now
I rebooted the computer into Windows 2000 and now my DVD writer is not working. It is in the control panel it shows D: etc. I put a CD or DVD and does not swap to program installation or it shows data in CD or DVD. it shows:

"The disk is not formated. Do you want to format it now?"

How can my DVD writer be not formated? it is not a hardrive.. This happens to any DVD or CD I put in tray...
Can Linux change DVD properties of DVD writer?

Thanks

Daniel

Try to shutdown your computer and boot Windows.
I have also some strange behaviour with my computer, if I shutdown Linux and reboot into Windows.
If I shutdwon Linux and reboot into Windows, 3D graphics in ET is not working correctly (wrong textures) (Really!).
To answer the question above: can Linux damage a DVD writer? I don´t think so.

See my post to your other thread. You may have altered the sequence that your drives appear un Windows. I may be totally wrong here, but worth checking...
