can't save to USB flash drive

SUSE 9.1 personal

I having problems saving to the floppy and my USB flash drives. What ever program I'm in (adobe reader, thunderbird etc) tells me I'm not a super user when I tried to save the PDF or an email. I tried right clicking on the usb in konqueror changed the ownership to the user and assigned it the users group. Tell it to apply and it looks like it takes, but when I double check still root root. I can save a file to the hard drive, and then in konqueror copy it to the usb drive and it works fine. I'm also having the same issue with the floppy drive.

Thanks everyone

I guess you are using subfs to mount the drives (default since 9.1). This has always been a little buggy in 9.1, so I suggest you disable subfs in /etc/sysconfig/hotplug (should be one of the last parameters) and use conventional mounting in /etc/fstab. As mount options, use defaults,users,umask=0000.
