Can't burn a dvd+R DL disk in K3B

Hello I never bought dual layer dvd's before but I needed one to burn a program for school. Unfortunately in k3b I keep getting "|unable to send dvd+R double layer recording information input output error|" each time i try to burn. I really need to burn this disk and I appreciate any workaound anyone might have because i'm stumped. I'm using an LG "super multi" dual layer dvd drive.

I should add that i'm using suse 10.1 and a GSA-4120B dvd dual layer drive with k3b version 0.12.16
