Building new kernel with Suse 10.0 (from a Live CD)
Hello, I'm stuck right now and unsure of how to proceed, so I was hoping someone would be able to give me a pointer or two.
My situation right now is that I wanted to upgrade my kernel to 2.6.17 or better so I could use the bcm43xx driver.
I compiled the kernel, and built the modules.
Unfortunately, I forgot something and when I rebooted, it didn't work.
So now, it won't boot, but I've found that I can do just about everything using a Knoppix CD.
I've been able to build the kernel, build/install the modules, but anything else I can't figure out how to do.
The kernel version I got is 2.6.17.4 from kernel.org.
One other important piece of information is that I have my home directory on hda3, and the rest of the system on hda4.
Currently, the source code is on hda3.
So my question is: How do I get a new kernel up and running using a Live CD so my computer will boot again?
(I'd rather not re-install, but I'll take it into consideration if everything else is ridiculously hard to do.)
Thanks!
