brother printer hl 2142 suse 11.2

in setting up the printer iam able to print anything that i have down loaded on the nett and saved such as photographs / publications however when i type letters under open office iam unable to print same and this extends to saved files
Contacted Brother who say this is a problem being experienced with open suse and nothing is being done by suse to fix the problem

Any solutions please

If your printer is new, 11.2 may be too old to have a driver. Try a supported more recent version such as 11.4 (for GNOME 2) or 12.1 (if you use KDE or want GNOME 3)

11.2 went End Of Life in May 2011
it is unsupported

please install 11.4 or the current 12.1
11.4 will reach it's End Of Life in 9 months

the issue in not being able to print from openoffice is a open office issuee and not a operating system one

you need to set up OO to use the printer you set as DEFAULT

you can do that in the web interface

Thanks to all for your comments . I solved the problem by ticking the box for (default printer ) and it all worked . Looking back on events i see that downloading the drivers for H L2140 was correct as they worked for HL2142 Further more the fact i was running SUse 11.2 made no difference Again thanks for the ad vice I guess it all goes towards building the experience
