Broken Kontact
Do any of you know where, in which directory I might find the data/contact files associated with the software Kontact?

They are not entered into one kontact folder.
You have to get each portion from their own folders (kmail, korginizer, knotes, kaddressbook etc). Those can be found in ~/.kde/share/apps Also be sure to keep the configuraiton files (There is one for Kontact) in ~/.kde/share/config Have fun. |
Broken Kontact

I've had instances when on booting up the mouse was not recognized but a simple re-boot took care of that petty annoyance but losing all that data, that was not what I'd call a petty annoyance. Saving the data in CSV format, while it has advantages, as far as Kontact goes it is a real pain to "import" back into Kontact. As a PIM, Kontact has real potential but I still don't trust it. On this end I'm somewhat sure that the problem is with Kontact, not Linux, not Suse. Thanks for the reply, it was very much appreciated. yankeeco |
Broken Kontact Fixed
Experience has shown me that Kontact is NOT at all fully independant of Kaddress. If anything it appears that Kontact is very much dependant on Kaddress.
The recent loss of data that occurred on this end appears to have came about due to my changing and leaving settings in Kaddress, a software I had hardly used and essentially only looked at in the past. Kontact and Kaddress it seems are very much linked and in this instance whatever display(s) you select in Kaddress WILL have an effect on what displays you get (or don't get) when you bring up Kontact |
