Boot off of OpenSuse 10.0

Hi, I had posted in the newbie section, but maybe this forum may be able to help.

I have a new HP Pavilion zv6000 laptop with the AMD 3800+ Athlon chip and 1 Gigabyte of DRAM memory.

I downloaded the Suse10.0 64 bit evaluation package for linux from the Utah Unversity mirror site and burned a DVD using Nero 6.0. The iso file has the same size and I saw no issue with the download.

I went into bios and confirmed that the CD drive order is before the hard drive and actually modified postion of the A drive boot order after the CD drive after the hard drive, etc. I will explain why.

The Phoenix bios identifies the CD/DVD drive as an "Atapi CD-Rom drive". When I have a DVD in the drive with the iso image independent of the order of the A drive, it looks at the DVD but does not boot off of the iso file. It always kicks me out to the A drive. Has anyone else seen this type of a problem with DVD's?

Do I need an additional "boot file" or a "patch" for the DVD? I do not have a physical A drive, I believe it is a partition on the C drive? I have used Linux before and the reason I am downloading the eval is that I am presently short on cash, but need to use a recognized commercial version of Linux such as Suse. I prefer Suse for business related reasons, not technical reasons.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I had retired for a few years and did not keep up. Could someone explain to me what the difference between an iso file and a torrant file is? Thanks.

Best regards,

Are you able to playback any DVD?

Yes, when I am running off of the windows installed with the machine I have no issue using the DVD. It is only when I have attempted to boot off of the DVD have I ran into problems, but I have not used an official "boot" DVD from any company to verify that I have an issue with DVD boots in general. The first boot that I attempted to do is with the OpenSuse downloads. The 64 bit version only comes on DVD formats.
