Bluetooth headset - only worked once!

I'm trying to use a bluetooth headset for Skype, as described here:

All the instructions worked exactly as described, and I was able to make the test call to Skype successfully. Great!

Just to make sure everything was being started successfully, I rebooted and tried again.

Now, whenever I try to connect the headset I get a pop-up saying:

"KBluetoothD Bluetooth Monitor Problem connecting with M3000 by Plantronics: Authentication Error"

I've tried changing various settings (authentication is turned off in hcid.conf), but I can't seem to get the thing to connect again.

Any suggestions?
