Belkin Wireless Card Connecting To Belkin Router

I have a Belkin Wireless PCI Card (F5D6001) which is trying to connect to my Belkin router (with build in ADSL modem) for internet access on Linux Suse 9.2 Personal (KDE). It has detected my card in YAST but I have tryed changing every setting in YAST to try and get it to find the network. When searching Google for an answer I relised this is much more difficult than I thought. What do I have to do? I am not an experienced Linux user but if you can explain it in some detail I'm sure I could use the command line etc. There are lots of additional modules for Linux like WLAN and some firmware like the Prism2 but I am deeply confused by all this and the need for it. Can anyone help me? Also would I then have to then create a DSL connection in YAST? If so how? Also isn't there some program that comes with Suse for using Windows network card drivers in Linux? Wouldn't that help?

Not sure whether the F5D6001 is a supported chipset. I know the F5D7010 isn't and if the actual chip is a Broadcom chip then it probably isn't. There are two options you can go for, either ndiswrapper or linuxant. Linuxant is a commercial product that builds drivers for unsupported chipsets - you can have a look on their website and try it for free for 30 days. Ndiswrapper is a free alternative that uses the Windows drivers for your card. However, unless it is included in your SuSE distribution you need to install it manually for which you need the kernel source. From memory the SuSE personal edition doesn't include source code so you'll have to get it. All of this is going to be a bit of a struggle if you're new to linux, however, have a search in the Wireless networking forum here for your card - you'll find someone else has done it before.

Good luck
