basic fdisk and mke2fs with Sony memory stick
I'm trying to create partitions and file systems on a little 32 meg Sony memory stick that is connected through a USB port.
I used fdisk to create two partitions on /dev/sda1:
/dev/sda1p1
/dev/sda1p2
fdisk does show that these partitions have been created. I assume that this only creates partitions, not file systems.
When I try
mke2fs /dev/sda1p1
I get the response "no such file or directory".
I can
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb1
but I want to mount each partition to separate mount points. (How can I mount /mnt/usb1 when I thought there was no file system there?)
How do I create file systems on each of these 2 partitions and then mount them?
Thanks,
Steve
