Audacity/Suse10.0 - 2.4version wxGTK~ needed
 

Hi everyone

Running Suse 10.0 ( 32 and 64 ) I am trying to make Audacity work.

Apparently Audacity needs version 2.4 of wxGTK-common and wxGTK2. In addition, it might also need version 2.4 of wxGTK and wxGTK-compat and wxGTK-devel, but I am not sure about this.

I can not find packages for Suse 10.0 in this version to download anywhere.

I would be very grateful if anyone knows where these packages can be found. I have spent a long time searching, but I do make silly mistakes. ( Making xine work was, in comparison, easy. )

If these packages can not be found, I think this might mean that Suse 10.0 is in practice not capable of Audio Editing, and that I will have to try another Distro for this function. I have become attached to Suse and would be reluctant to abandon it – perhaps I could run two Distros if need be.

Any help will be gratefully received. I am a computer newbie - no prior windows experience!

Which audacity package did you try? There's one at packman for 10.0 and I would be surprised if this had unresolvable dependencies. I can check this later when I am back on Linux again (damn annoying that so much software is still Windows-only).

I have not succeeded yet running Suse 10.0 however....

I have just installed Suse 10.1_32 and Audacity works
" right out of the box ". A pleasant surprise.

If anyone is having trouble with 10.0, it definately might be worth trying 10.1.
