Apache 2 & PHP5 Not playing nice

Hi All - I am having a problem getting Apache2 to handle .php files correctly.

I have SuSE10.0, installed Apache2 and all PHP5 modules with Apt-Get. My htdocs are in /srv/www/htdocs. The CLI for PHP5 works fine. (Hopefully that is enough info for that)

Anyway - I can browse to my webpage just fine - but when I try the simply test.php file - my browser always asks how I want to handle the file - Save it or Open it. (Sometimes it doesnt do either - just shows a blank page, like right now...)

Are there any settings I should check that the rpm's don't do?

To see what I mean - it is is the main page, then is the test page that isnt working.

Any help is appreciated.

Ok - I got things to work. Here is what I did...

Through YAST - I uninstalled all Apache and PHP files. Then I deleted the /etc/apache2/ directory.

I downloaded the source files from and and compiled them.

Then I soft-linked the /srv/www/htdocs/ directory to /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/ directory.

PHP and Apache are playing nice now.

I guess it goes to show you that sometimes you really need to compile things yourself....
