I'm having a similar problem. I'm trying to install the 7676 driver which all seems to go well...
Code:
# dmesg
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86_64 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-7676 Fri Jul 29 13:15:16 PDT 2005
It is in the correct directory...
Code:
/lib/modules/2.6.13.4-linux/kernel/drivers/video/
output from /var/log/messages
Code:
Nov 9 22:38:10 localhost kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:05:00.0 disabled
Nov 9 22:38:22 localhost kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:05:00.0[A] -> Link [APC3] -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 66
Nov 9 22:38:22 localhost kernel: NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86_64 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-7676 Fri Jul 29 13:15:16 PDT 2005
However, in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Code:
(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (NVIDIA X driver not found)
I notice that the ModulePath is set to /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules rather than what I would expect which is /lib/modules/2.6.13.4-linux/kernel/ but I'm not really sure what this is refering to.
the only other line of suspect I can find is from dmesg
Code:
nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
So where is the GLX extension for the module? Shouldn't it be part of the install? I did set the install script to include the openGL libraries. So now I'm lost. Please help.
