AntiVir v 2.1.5, Dazuko and Suse 10

I have been searching and searching but could not find anyone to answer a few questions about Dazuko, AntiVir and Suse 10.

This is what I had been trying to accomplish:

1. Run an on access virus scanner with AntiVir and Dazuko
2. Start the AntiVir GUI

Issue #1. (Solved)

When installing the script for AntiVir it asks if you want to have AntiVir StartUp Script load Dazuko. I have been trying to get this to work and through trial and error I finally found the answer:

a. Dazuko is already compiled in SuSE 10 and thus no downloading of Dazuko Source or compiling of the Kernel Source is necessary. I tried to accomplish just this and found it to be a very frustrating task that I failed in doing. The easiest way to use Dazuko is to add: MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT = "dazuko" to the /etc/sysconfig/kernel file. **Remember you can only change this file under root and make sure you back it up!**

b. When AntiVir asks you how you want to use Dazuko select Kernel - Always loaded

c. Also note that when you select directories to scan EXCLUDE: /home/your folder/.wine/dosdevices/ as it will cause the scanner to follow the symbolic links.

Issue #2

When I try to start the AntiVir-GUI it tells me that I do not have Java installed. I get this instead:
ERROR: No Java found on this system.

Java 1.4.x or higher is needed.

I hope this thread helps those of us who need AntiVir as there have been few discussions concerning this either in LQ or on Google.Com

Thanks

Antivir and no java found

You need to make sure the java executable is in your path...

...or symlink to it i.e. ===>

rattle:/usr/local/bin# ln -s /usr/local/utils/jre1.5.0_06/bin/./java java

This got rid of the no java found error for me.
