ok I like apt but it uninstalls MPlayer because I dont have the win32codecs-all installed. I don't want the win32codecs. MPlayer works fine without them. I don't play any windows files. can I fool my computer into thinking that the package is installed or edit the MPlayer rpm so that it doesn't ask for them?
Originally posted by SchadeBoy What I don't understand, though, is that the total size for the DVD ISO of 9.2, and the total number of bytes I downloaded for the 5 CD ISO images I received for 9.3 were roughly the same. So why is it that my 9.3 install had more applications and options than the 9.2 DVD Eval?
I'd be glad if we could close this here, but I would like to answer your question:
The 5CD download (you know that this is a non-authorised rip?) is a copy of the 5CD set that comes with one or two double layer DVD. It is a strange fact, SUSE wants to save money on media. So they don't make the same amount of software available on CD that they offer on DVD. The poor CD-drive-only users need to download what they already bought from FTP. This is indeed a strange startegy. If had a CD drive only, it would really piss me off. But this doesn't explain that there is still more software on the 5CD set. I guess this is because the CD's do not contain the 64bit version, which was on the 9.2 EVAL DVD. Not sure about this however.
