There is no difference in software packages between 9.2 Pro and 9.2 Update. Only the price is lower and one handbook is missing.

Thanks for that answer abisko00 that will save me £20.00.
Will the upgrade version leave all my settings intact as I have got 9.1 set up how I like it.

of course i think there is a way to point your installation location to pull from 9.2 server locations and do an update that way without buying the cd's. trying to find that out myself. want to upgrade 9.1 to 9.2 ftp install

anyone know how to do this?

the FTP installation is not ready yet. I believe it is supposed to be ready in January. They have to make some money before releasing it for free, otherwise we'll probably never see another version.

I recommend supporting them and at least getting the Upgrade version, or if you know some college students, have them get the educational version. Same as Pro, but with a discount for students.

Sure this is possible. The most common way would be to wait until the FTP version of 9.2 gets released (mid-january). After booting from an installation ISO (available from the SuSE FTP server, see below) you can select from a large variety of sources. Until the release of the FTP version this is limited to sources that are created from the official installation media (e.g. shared CD-drives).

Just purchased the 9.2 Pro upgrade.
After using 9.1 pro ( which I got for free ) I think it is worth the money to buy the upgrade.

i agree, buying the upgrade may be best, i do like supporting companies that do good stuff and suse (novell) is one of those that i would support.

in the mean time though i am trying to figure out how to upgrade kde from 3.2.1 to 3.3.1. havent been able to figure that one out. been using debian for so long

abisko00 - is the mini-install image just like a preview version or something? can it be updated?

I guess this ISO is nothing but a boot-image. On 64 MB there is not much space for a 'real' distro.

For the KDE update, have a look at the sticky thread in this forum, in post#10 I have posted a short description.
