9.0 --> 9.2 upgrade
Hey all. I installed SuSe 9.2 Pro on my laptop recently -- a machine that had no previous linux install -- and I really like it! The KDE 3.3 desktop looks great and the packages I need are all there and up to date. Because of this positive experience, I'm contemplating upgrading from 9.0 to 9.2 on my desktop machine. Before I do so, however, I wanted to get some input from you all.
** Although backing up files is, of course, always a must, are there any other precautionary measures you would recommend before attempting the upgrade?
** What does the upgrade actually entail? For example, will simple preference settings like the desktop wallpaper and window themes be wiped? Should I expect packages already installed to be upgraded automatically (e.g., Perl 5.8.0 from 9.0 to Perl 5.8.5). Or does the upgrade ONLY upgrade more fundamental things like the kernel itself?
Thanks
