64 bit x2 with 64 bit Suse 9.3, problem booting.
 

Ok, I jumped the gun, I guess. I just built an Athlon 64 4400+ X2 on an ASUS A8N32-SLI DELUXE MOBO and a Nvidia Gforce 7600GT graphics card. For some reason I can't get my Suse 9.3 Pro to boot. It goes through the option of selecting which OS to boot, but then after selecting Suse, it goes blank. PLease help.

Yes, there are some problems with older kernel versions (like used in Suse 9.3) and dual core Athlon64.
You should try to install a most up to date distribution like Fedora Core 5 or Suse 10.0 (or Gentoo 2006.0)

Can I download them somewhere for free? ;) Mainly because I don't want to wait until next week to get this thing going. I've already blown a butt-load of green on this machine already. I thought my Suse 9.3 would be ok.

Oh, I wrote down a message I got when trying in safe mode. "Kernel Panic, not syncing: Aiee, Killing interrupt handler."

I also picked up a copy of M$ XP Pro 64 and am laughing at how I can't find an anti-virus program for it. It seems that most companies are not bothering to make drivers for Billy's 64 edition. They are waiting for "Longhorn" to make it's appearance. I hear they put it off yet again until January of 07. Sounds like vaporware to me.

Oh, did I mention that it used to work when I first installed it? Then after I hooked up the 21" lcd monitor, it decided to not boot again.

Free downloads are available on www.opensuse.org. I'd stick with 10.0 since 10.1 is still in beta and with a dual core cpu you may be better off with a stable release. The regular x86_64 kernel will work but you may need to go with the smp kernel for dual core support. SuSE may very well detect dual core and install accordingly, it does for 64 bit.
