5.1 audio in suse 9.1

I have a gametheater xp 7.1 sound card and I would like to get the 5.1 sound to work with it. I have checked the volume settings in Yast, does anyone know of any other ways to adjust this. Thanks.

yes, if you mean the alsamixer under the multimedia on the kmenu. I ran alsaconf in the console and got 2 speakers going, but I don't know how to turn up things like the bass and rears. Is there some command that I must do when running the alsaconf command? Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
