3Com Corporation 3c556B CardBus [Tornado] (rev 20) on IBM T21 Laptop

I have SuSE 9.2 installed and the 3Com Corporation 3c556B CardBus [Tornado] (rev 20) integrated Mini-PCI combo card fails to function properly with a hardware address of FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF regardless of using Failsafe settings or not. The Failsafe settings use acpi=off noapic and other kernel options and to my knowledge this used to work with SuSE 9.1. However, it's not working with SuSE 9.2. My best guess is that the driver is buggy in the 2.6.8-24-default kernel. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Keep in mind, I cannot download the kernel updates because I have no network connection. I'm considering installing the kernel updates on the laptop using a rewritable CD but I don't want to waste any more time if it's not going to work.
